How to compare peptide wholesale quotes

A buyer worksheet for comparing peptide wholesale quotes on specification, document scope, pack-out, and landed cost — not on the headline unit price alone.

Two peptide quotes are comparable after they describe the same goods, document scope, and delivery boundary. The lowest headline number often wins because a fill, a salt form, a sample-scope PDF, or freight was left out.

For professional B2B buyers. No prices and no supplier ranking. Freeze the RFQ first: RFQ checklist for China-side peptide sourcing.

One line definition per quote

Do not convert prices until the line matches. One row per supplier.

Column What must match If it does not
Compound identity Name plus sequence or other identifier you checked You may be pricing two molecules. Stop.
Salt or counterion Free peptide versus a named salt Do not compare mg figures across forms.
Format Vial, bulk powder, or another stated form Cost and documents change with form.
Fill and basis Amount per unit, and gross versus net peptide if defined Unit price has no shared denominator.
Purity line Method and your threshold, not a bare percent “99%” from two methods is not one spec.
Document pack Which of COA, HPLC, MS, SDS are included, and at what scope A cheaper line may include no usable file.
Evidence scope Tested Sample versus a recorded Batch-Linked path Do not pay a lot-linked price for a sample-scope file.
Pack-out and label Neutral, private label, or OEM, plus units per carton Setup is often excluded.
Quantity band The band this unit price covers A pilot price is not an ongoing price.
Trade term EXW, FOB, CIF, DDP, or whatever was written The buyer’s remaining work is part of cost.
Lead-time basis Goods on hand versus production after spec freeze “Stock” has to be defined.
Payment shape What is due before documents exist Cash timing is a cost and a control.

A blank cell means the quote is incomplete. Do not ask a supplier to match a price before the cells match.

Same row method as the published Retatrutide and Tirzepatide checklists.

Normalize only after the line matches

Convert using the supplier’s written figures. Do not fill gaps with a market “per mg” benchmark.

  1. Pick one commercial unit: per vial at the frozen fill, per gram of the stated form, or per finished carton. Use it for every supplier.
  2. Convert to cost per stated net amount only when both sides defined net versus gross. If one did not, do not invent the figure.
  3. Add costs that quote excludes but you will pay: artwork, testing still required, export handling, freight, insurance, duties and brokerage under the stated trade term, and bank charges.
  4. Keep document scope and lead-time basis beside the number. Do not fold them into a single score.
  5. Note the validity date. An expired line is not a comparable offer.

Landed cost means cash items you can name from the written quote. It is not a customs assessment and not a quality score. An EXW line with a COA only is not cheaper than a CIF line with COA + HPLC + MS + SDS until freight and the missing files are added. If both are Tested Sample, the fuller pack is still not lot-linked. Scope labels: Tested Sample vs Batch-Linked COA.

What the document column is buying

Separate three ideas quotes often collapse into “tested.”

Idea Comparison question What it is not
Panels Identity, purity, content, and any extra panel you named One purity percent standing in for the others
Issuer Named independent lab versus seller letterhead only A logo on a slide
Scope Tested Sample, or Batch-Linked only with recorded lot marks A public PDF applied to a future lot

Read the COA before the document column moves the price: How to read a peptide COA. Pack roles: Peptide documentation package: COA + HPLC + MS + SDS. A file can be an authentic report and still be only a Tested Sample: Verified peptide COA report authenticity and batch linkage.

Public evidence stays Tested Sample by default. Do not add a premium for “batch COA included” unless the quote states how lot marks will be tied. Extra panels are in the price only if named. See Third-party tested peptides.

Label, MOQ, terms, and payment

  • Private label or OEM: who approves artwork, how many proofs, the setup fee, and whether MOQ rises. “Same unit price” is incomplete until those items are written.
  • MOQ: the in-band unit price is not the price of a sample quantity below MOQ.
  • Trade term: EXW leaves freight and often export formalities with you. A higher CIF or DDP figure can be a smaller total. Naming a destination is operational scoping, not a request that the supplier clear your import.
  • Lead time: “ready” stock still needs a lot identity if you care which documents apply. A production window should start from spec freeze.
  • Payment: full prepayment before any document review is a different risk position from a balance released against a reviewed file. Write the comparison on purpose: what is due before a document review, versus a balance released only after identifiers match.

Red flags while comparing

Red flag What to do
Only a unit price in chat Ask for the row in writing. Do not score the chat number.
Per-gram beside per-vial with no fill Wait until both state fill and basis.
“Includes COA” with no lab, date, or scope Count documents as not yet specified.
A public PDF used as the batch file Label it Tested Sample. Do not score it as lot-linked.
Private label “included” with no setup or proof step List those as open costs.
Freight “to be confirmed” versus freight included Leave landed cost blank until both name the term.
Pressure to decide with no validity date Record the date. A moving price is not a quote.

Qualified B2B enquiries only. Laboratory testing, factory audits, and extended investigations are quoted separately. A quote read is not a price guarantee and not an approval of goods.

Why is the lowest unit price often the wrong pick?

Fill, salt form, documents, packaging, trade term, and payment timing may not match the higher quote. The low number can be a smaller scope.

Can I compare a per-vial quote with a per-gram quote?

Only after both state format, amount, and fill basis, using those written figures. Do not invent a net peptide amount the supplier did not define.

Does “third-party tested” outrank a cheaper quote?

Only on the panels and scope actually named. A Tested Sample COA is not Batch-Linked, and a purity percent is not identity or content.

Should private label sit inside the unit price?

Either inside a stated unit price or listed as setup, MOQ, and proof charges. “Included,” with no artwork step, is not a complete OEM line.

Do I add freight before I choose?

Add every cash cost the trade term leaves with you. Duties you do not yet know should stay open, not as made-up numbers.
